Fundamental Coaching Changed Young Boys Life

Aged: 8

Born: Blackburn hospital, full term, normal delivery, my son was my second son my first son walked at 8 and a half months and had no issues, however the in turned foot problem runs on my husbands side of the family.

My son started walking aged 19 months, at the age of 2 i took my son to the hospital to be reviewed as it seemed he was having difficulty walking as it looked like his right foot was in turned and he complained a lot of the time about pain in his hip. After investigation the doctor at the time advised that surgery may be too drastic and to monitor him as he grows.

My son has had difficulty with running, jumping, hopping, balance and has never been able to ride a trike although a bike with stabilizers with much input in now achieved. Jason is quiet a bright boy however in his school reports it has always been mentioned that PE is the area that has let my son down.

My son began to participate with the Fundamentals course (sorry i don’t know how long ago but since you first started at ............. school) and this has been of immense benefit to him over time he has developed a massive range of skills and confidence and is now happy to try any kind of sport activities.

My son is of the understanding that he probably will never be a sportsman however now has the confidence to participate as its the taking part that maters!

I have recently been to see the orthopaedic consultant again with my son, there does not seem to be any other intervention i.e. physio, splits etc that can help Jason other than surgery. Both myself and my son are unsure if we want to take this route as it has not worked for other family members.

I have consulted with my son’s teachers and the coaches from Fundemental Coaching about making our decision and we currently feel that surgery may not be needed at the moment. I have to say a great big thank you to all the staff from Fundamentals agency that have given my son a new lease of life when it comes to sport and a boost in confidence.
